The rapture

The rapture does not have support in the book of Revelations according to Tellbe in the book about Revelations. He says that the only support of the rapture is the verse:

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”

Revelations 4:1

The reason bible scholars believe in the rapture is because the word congregation is only used 19 times and only in the three first chapters which makes them believe that the congregation will not be there for the rest of it. Tellbe says that the world congregation is replaced by the word servant or the holy and is used later in the text.

Reflection

I think people want to believe in the rapture. After all no one wants to live through the end of times and suffer through all that persecution and pain. I have heard a story of children being afraid of the rapture thinking they will be left behind to fend for themselves. So they will be happy to know that they will not be left behind. 🙂

What do you think? Will the rapture happen?
